Growing Cucumbers                                                       Back to profiles

  • Direct seed or start indoors 3 weeks before last frost.

  • Germination temperature 75-85 degrees.

  • Sow ½”-1” deep.  Space 36” on ground (not recommended), or trellis 6-12” apart.

  • Full sun.

  • They are heavy feeders and grow best in rich soil with organic matter. Water regularly for best production.

  • Fast growing so you need to check daily and harvest while still thin for less seeds. In warmer climates can plant in March and September. Great for salads, slicing and pickling.
See recipes for the harvest for recipes.
